How to Replace an
audi replacement key cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor
In this video, Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is situated on the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.
1. Engine Speed Sensor
The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 through the grey wire. The ECU utilizes this information to control the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.
The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft reached TDC, and the location of the camshaft to trigger the spark and injectors.
If this sensor fails, replacement key for Audi a3 -
yogicentral.science, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of a chain stretch or a jumpy chain link in the upper timing chain. However the code will not be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
Testing is a bit challenging because there are two pins for the connector and they serve different purposes but the most effective method of testing it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read around 1000 ohms when it is at full operation. Examine for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if there are problems with this part.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at full speed I noticed a massive decrease in power. It was as if the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors weren't firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, 3 were drenched with gazoline the fourth was dry. When I crank the engine without sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each hole in the injector, the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th stay closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I think the issue is somewhere else.
I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The
audi car key cover can start if the G28 is not plugged in and runs fine when it is plugged in however it has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temperature of that is -49c even after unplugging it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars while the actual pressure is 0.
I'm not certain what to do, but i believe that i've eliminated everything else. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please share them! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate the
audi spare key replacement in a salvage shop or parts store. It is simple to test them - just put your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing upwards). They should be infinite Ohms.
4. ECU
The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines requires to know both the speed and position of the crankshaft to determine timing of fuel injectors, etc. To accomplish this, it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these go wrong, you will receive codes on the diagnostic scanner which can lead to engine shutdown.
Some of the signs of a failed G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal, and/or a misfire when you're in gear. If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is likely that your sensor is deteriorating and requires replacement. The good news is that they are very cheap and easy to find, especially in the case of an Bosch sensor, like ours. You can also choose the GM version of this component is also a good option.
5. Tachometer
A failing engine speed sensor could be the cause of many problems in your vehicle. It's an essential component of the transmission in your
audi key programmer because it relays information to the ECU on how fast or slowly the engine of the car is turning. This sensor can cause the transmission to malfunction and other car components to be affected.
The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. It transmits signals via gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this signal to regulate the amount of fuel and boost, as well as timig. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. It should show approximately 1000 ohms resistance between those points. This is a typical part across the
audi key replacement cost uk 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU. Good parts could be found in wrecking yards.
